I was at Mass last Sunday and my mind very briefly wandered. During my distraction, I thought about a future world where religious practices had disappeared, and only existed within historical archives.
I thought about what a disruption to such a society would look like. And so began the idea for my second novel. Yes, I realise I haven’t finished the first one yet, but my idea was not one that I could just sit with for a few months. I had to develop the plan and write an opening. So I did just that.
Adding yet another project to my creative workload may seem a tad ambitious, but I’m blessed with time this summer. Both my wife and I work as primary school teachers so July and August are that bit more flexible when it comes to parental responsibilities and free time. Given this liberty, I’m hoping to make significant progress on all of my projects.
Introducing (the idea for) “When Sunday Ended”. Working title!
