I had the idea for this novel over ten years ago. I put together the rough idea, wrote a prologue, and promptly forgot about it until I did a routine clear-out of old computers files. I read everything I had written and thought to myself this could actually become something, so I downloaded Scrivener and got to work. Coming up with the character was easy, I wanted him to be a teacher, but the book was definitely not to be a book about teaching or school life. As I got deeper in to the first few chapters, I realised I was putting together a story about that explored how a man surrounded by people could feel isolated, how he could struggle with the things that most of us take for granted.
I’m just over 8,000 words in and I’m about to finish Chapter 3. I like what I’ve done so far, and I hope that in the future, others will, too.
