When I was in First Class, I remember my teacher asking us to put together a story using the pages in our copies. The top half was blank and the bottom half contained those lines with large spaces between them. Somehow (don’t ask me how) I came up with the idea of a character who was a head and a leg. This version had a wife and kids, who were also one-legged heads.

This new version retains the name, the look (mostly, I replaced his fedora with a top hat for extra sophistication) but ditches the back story. Nobody knows much, if anything, about this new guy. Initially I wanted him to be a detective but it just didn’t feel like it fit him. Instead, I’ve made him more mysterious than that.

I’m about 800 words in to what will most likely be a 4,500 to 5,000 illustrated story. I cannot illustrate. If things work out with this book, I’m excited to see what vision the artist will have for my characters and the town!
